Aurora police officer dies following car crash Friday



An officer with the Aurora Police Department has died after being involved in a car crash Friday night.

The officer passed away due to injuries sustained in the crash, confirmed Crystal McCoy, public information officer with APD. The officer, who was not identified, was off duty when the incident occurred, McCoy said.

“We are respectfully requesting on behalf of the family to respect their privacy during their time of loss,” McCoy said, offering no other details about the incident. “We will not be providing any additional information related to the traffic crash to include the identity of the officer.”
